You Were

by Samantha lynn   Nov 10, 2004

*~To the boy who was everything... then changed who he was for others...~*~

You were the sunrise
and my moonlight
you were the boy
who watched
over me every night.

Holding my hand
when I slipped by the pond
teaching me soccer
on the front lawn.

The reason I felt safe
in an awkward crowd
because you didn't leave me behind
like you do now.

You were my haven
I didn't have to pretend
Never thought you'd forget me
and would've stayed till the end.

You were the tears I kept crying
alone in my bed
when I realized I love you
and those words would be condemed.

You were the overcoming emotion
I was going to be alone,
because you started changing
and you stopped calling my home.

You were the air-filling laughter
when I cracked a bad joke
the hero in armor
when my heart slowly broke.

You once let me into
that deep well called your soul
but now it's started to dry up
and losing control.

Once you laughed at my jokes
now you laugh at my innocence
I loved you so much
and it wasn't seen a bit.

You were the closest
the bravest
the most important friend;

You were my everything
but I've never been yours in the end.
