IT

by Jacki   Nov 10, 2004

I ran upstairs crying, sobbing
I couldn't believe what I had just seen.
I tripped running up the staircase.
I looked back and seen IT staring
up at me from the bottom landing.
I ran into the old bedroom,
I ran into the closet and closed
the door leaving only a crack
to see out.

My heart was pounding faster than
I thought was possible.
I tried to cover my breathing so
he wouldn't hear me.
I sat perfectly still not making
a noise.
I wiped my eyes to stop my crying.
Then I closed them really tight,
thinking if I can't see IT,
he won't be able to see me.

But then I heard the floor talk
to me letting me know IT was
in the room with me.
It was an old wooden floor
so it made squeaks and creeks,
with every step you made.
The closet door was slightly open
so I wanted to take a quick peak out.
But the light that was coming from
the room quickly faded away.
And as I peered out,
the eye looked into mine.
