With Me

Holding my hand
on those late summer nights.
joking and laughing
it all seemed so right.

You came to the rescue
whenever I needed aid,
you were the knight in shining amour
and I was your damsel to be saved.

Your smile warmed my heart
when I was deep in despair,
you always came right to me
never thought how other would care.

I grew attached
to loving you
through fights
troubles
tears,
and now I find myself wishing,
you were the one always near.

I didn't know what loving you
could do to my self control,
because now I can't sleep at night,
when you're intoxicated into my soul.

And all the while I was thinking,
this was destined and divine;
I never saw it coming
that day you threw my love to the side.
