Coward...

by brin macnamara   Nov 30, 2004

If by me loving you and not telling you
makes me a fraud, a coward,
Then I am guilty as charged.
Condemned,awaiting sentence.
Take me away and do what you will with me.
For retribution can be no worse
than an existence without you.

I pleaded clemency,
But was ignored.
Mocked,
Ridiculed.
And removed from what few friends I had.
I stand alone,
head bowed,
heart broken.

They booed me.
Denied ever having known me.
For I am a coward,
A chicken.
But in truth how could I declare
my love for you
Given our circumstances?
No. out of the question.

So now you will never know...
Just how much I do love you.
The secret will stay locked within
my being for eternity.

I like this. Good perspecitive. Its good to have an older person (not to offend you, but most of the people on here are in their teens and early 20's) to offer something because your writing style is so much different and more involved than many of the younger poets on here. As you said, you may be 20 inside but your life experiance gives your poems an edge and an authenticity that you cant fake. Keep it up.
    With love, K Kristina
