Branded

VOTE thanks

I look outside my window
but i no longer see the grass
all i see is dirt
and big ol' mounds of trash

I look outside my window
but i see no children playing
because their being kept inside
in fear of gang related slaying

I look outside my window
and watch the police cars slowly riding by
watching my neighborhood closely
as if any minute someone is going to die

I look outside my window
and tears roll out eyes
praying to see better days
when someone actually listens to all our unheard cries

But this seems so far away
because no one seems to see
they branded us from birth
because we were born into poverty
