Goodbye

I can remember the day when we parted.
You walked away and that’s when the pain started.
Smiles turned upside down along with tears.
And now I’m left without your love for the rest of my years.

Your smile touched me in a place no one else could.
Your happiness was a high I couldn’t get over.
Just seeing you put me down on my knees.
But now that you’re gone we’ll never be.

You took my breath away the first day we met.
You left me standing there in the dark cold and wet.
Tears silently fell and I tried to cover them up.
But nothing could chase you away from my mind.

I remember the look you used to have in your eyes.
No matter what happened I knew you couldn’t lie.
The day came with the bad news and I wish I could die.
You stabbed my heart with a thousand needles and days pass by.

I don’t know what to do to get you off my mind.
I can’t go on not loving you any longer.
But I realize I’m going further down every day I hold on.
I just sit up at night and wish that I could be stronger.

I try to look for a new love, but they just don’t add up.
I can’t find the look in your eyes, or the care in your hug.
So this is my goodbye to the one that I love with my heart.
I wish it didn’t up like this, but it’s time that we part.
