Almost A Year

by RaInYDaYze   Dec 10, 2004

The colors change to white and Grey
As the seasons collect their dues
The winter unfolds an astonishing beauty
And crystallizes my heart
I wander in this wonderland
As if in a lucid dream
The vast white world explodes
With ice tears and soft snowflakes
Almost a year has passed, my dear
Almost a year in this cold December
Every icicle is a token of my gratitude
A sign of my affection
The wind sings a sugarcoated lullaby
Into your ears and melts the ice from your eyelashes
"Come find me, love"
Lying in the snow
My lost innocence murmurs whispered words
Of slit wrists and despair
Your memories bleed out of me
And soak into the everlasting whiteness
The snow is freezing and forgiving
It cradles my broken body
Turning a dark shade of crimson red
Purifying the stillness
Extracting my last regrets
The cold North wind, my messenger
Delivers the news
You find me near the frozen pond
Under an old oak tree
A single shard of glass pierced through my chest
Shattering my heart of ice
Eyes wide open and empty
Your salty tears run down your face
And drip upon my lifeless body
You press your lips against my cold cheek
You softly say "almost a year, my darling"
As if this will cause me to wake
But you have already realized
It is much too late
In this fairytale
Even your tears and pretty words
Cannot bring me back to life.
