Couldn't help

by Erica Brown©   Dec 13, 2004

Everything seemed all right,
Never once did we fight.
You were so energetic and fine,
Never once did you whine.

But something was misplaced,
A sickness was what we faced.
You weren't going to be the same,
And this wasn't a game.

This was real life,
Each day yours was cut shorter with a knife.
There was nothing I could do,
Except for me to love you.

And I did,
And I still do.
I do not kid.
I really miss you.

wow, short but intensly powerful. Experiment with your rhyming a little, if it just feels like the words were there and somehow it just ended up rhyming,it seems to flow easier, thats why i feel patterns can be harsh..

anys, after all me yabbering, i think it is a great poem and keep writing, you truly have a gift! 5/5
