On the Winter Path

by Samantha lynn   Dec 14, 2004

White innocent snow
Falls to the ground.
As I walk
Beneath this canopy of stars.
Breathe it in
Breathe it out
Watching the billowing clouds
Float around in a constant unison.
Walking,
On this deserted path,
As the frozen beauty
Begins to wake and welcome,
Opening for me.
You once took my hand,
In your pocket,
As we walked along this path
Years before.
Now as I walk along
In winter’s falling,
I feel your love surround
And comfort me.
You watch,
Drifting on,
As life goes by without you.
But our hearts dear,
Still beat as one,
And you still complete me.
My fingers wrap around
The solid air
Where your hand lies.
Invisible to this world
Yet still clear
Present,
For me to grasp.
You tell a simple joke,
I laugh,
And you smile.
As once again,
You wrap your arms around me
And your light of hope surrounds me.
Knowing you have to leave,
But don’t want to,
Afraid
You’ll be forgotten.
But I keep you here always,
Inside me,
Inside my soul.
For even though our time was short,
I keep our joy
Our love
Alive forever.
For to know
That my day will come.
For your angel kisses
To reach between us
For eternity.
A burning light,
To guide others,
To find such a pure love
Like ours.
And together in heaven,
Together we can stay,
And walk along these paths
With angelic wings
To protect and bind us
Once more
Yet for all time.
