End of a Dream

by Samantha lynn   Dec 14, 2004

Intertwined-
Like the ivy curling
Around the tall oak tree.
Your essence still lingers,
Surrounds,
My deepest memories.
Laced once together,
Our fingers
Wrapped perfectly
Inevitably
Together.
Held tight-
Air-sealed
Like the opaque container
Where our love was kept
Fresh, pure,
Unable to let go,
We had been made for each other.
Bright-
As the warm summer moon
Shines down
On the sleeping earth.
Your eyes
Brought the same beauty
Same mystery
I felt for the bright stars
When you looked into my soul.
I thought love
Could be defined
As the deepest connection
Of two souls
Held for all eternity.
But I was wrong.
And you left
Before I could tell you-
Your life made me feel like one.
