Definition of Friend

What makes a friend a friend?
People make this mistake everyday
And call a foe a friend
Just because they need something or anything
So they become friends to whoever opens their arms first

Like a knife for example
Or a drug
And they are always the first ones there
They are always there to satisfy that hole in you
But it’s only a temporally release.
Then the addiction occurs

Needing company… you cut deep into your skin
Injecting serum to make the pain go away
And that relief comes oh so quickly
No more pain…. No more worry… no more hole
But this friend can’t last forever

That is the problem…
What you believe to be your friend for so long
Turns out to be your worst enemy
Telling you to hurt yourself… “Cut away the pain”
Telling you to drug yourself… “Drink this all away”

A friend is one that takes your hand
And jumps in your pain to help you fight it everyday
A friend is the one that lets your tears hit their shoulder
Someone who take your hand before you ask
Someone who never accepts no for an answer

A friend is not someone who blames you
A friend is not someone who brings more pain
A friends is not someone who will abandon you
A friends is not someone who hates you
A friends is not someone who leave you their in the dark… and never helps cure your pain

Friend -- a person with whom one has a bond of mutual affection, typically one exclusive of sexual or family relations. A familiar or helpful thing. A person who helps at a difficult time is a person to be relied upon. (Dictionary Definition)

A friend isn’t afraid for you
A friend is afraid because they care for you
Don’t do what so many have done
Forgotten the difference of friend and foe
A friend doesn’t relieve the pain
A friend slowly makes it go away
