Remember?

by Angel Sanctuary ©   Nov 1, 2006

Petrified and dead,
Delicately place.

Flowers for death,
But death in bloom.

To the dimmed setting,
And the closed casket.

Dozen lined up waiting under
The cross with covered dust.

You dont know him,
But he gives your eulogy.

Tears have stained this floor
And they cry behind veiled sorrow.

Its not like it should be,
The sun is out, birds chirping,

Children playing ring-around-the-rosy,
And an ice-cream trucks melody a block away.

Mom falls to her knees as they lift you up,
(Your casket cost a lot, you know.)

Your brothers, father, friends lift you, and place you, into the car.
The driver doesnt know your name; an earpiece cheering the Redsocks on.

We lined up behind you (like always. Remember? \'Follow the Leader\')
Police escort us to the grave yard where we will place you again.

(Do you remember the day we said goodbye? Mom cried, Dad was away, and I was in my room. I saw you outside of my window, I waved goodbye to you, you waved back.)

Another man there now, he speaks for you, (I dont think he even knows you).
He placed his hand on your casket to say, You were a good man.

Mom cries again, this time dad is here.
Hes crying.

We all say goodbye to you again,
And they lower you away.

(My friend has his cleats on,
Hes late to his soccer game.)
Everyone pats mom on the back,
Like that touch will make the pain go away.

(I didnt cry today Danny),
Left alone at your tombstone.

Do you remember the day we played outside, and you pretended to be dead and I cried?
