I Adore

by Jacki   Dec 16, 2004

She’S swirled in black and red
Silver about her wrist,
Legs crossed one beneath the other
A cigarette sits between her finger tips.
A perfect white smile
Such perfectly placed hair,
Her laugh that's infectious.

I Adore.

Sitting for the camera still posing for her fame.
Photo taken by Leroy Stewart who said
he had found the next Modern American Poet.
Petite yet curvacious
a pedestal she was placed upon.
Lies beneath the surface,
The photo in which I stare.

I Adore.

Her world was glamour and glitz
Money she didn't worry about;
Her life she painted through her eyes
upon her dreams and vigorousness of her
innocent inner child.
She held the world in her hands
and sat back to enjoy the ride.

I Adore.

But when the camera faded away
and her glory and fame fizzled
in the darkened sky;
Memories came crashing back
like waves hitting the beach pulling
the white sand into the darkness.
Unrecognizable, untouched, out of the public eye.....

I Adored?

Looking in the mirror, cigarette in hand,
vodka in the other.
Hair out of place, lipstick on her cheeks, the
medicine cabinet is open, the pills she's
about to seek.
One after another they fall on the floor,
the cigarette burning out.

I adored never more.
