Will

by Incognito   Dec 23, 2004

I’m gritting my teeth and I’m struggling to fight
And the cravings are ripping out my insides.
I see in the mirror the glint of cold steel
The longing is overtaking the need to conceal.
The promises made to lay down the blade
Slip from my mind as my will becomes frayed.
I look in the mirror, looking for decision
Raise up the knife and with careful precision
Bring it up to my eyes, and throw it away.
Rebuild my defences, cross off one more day.
