Falling from cloud nine

by Samantha lynn   Dec 23, 2004

Up in heaven
On the dream-like ride
Lies the safe haven
Justly called cloud nine.

Worries get checked at the door
And the party is always in full swing
Love is walking right by your side
And wedding bells start to ring.

Up here on number nine
My worries started to fade
But the moment you walked by me
my life turned back a shade of gray.

You didn’t recognize me
Didn’t know I was there
And though I was joyous on the outside
My heart was broken in despair.

But nine isn’t a place of worry
Not a place of inner tears
Broken hearts and faded dreams
A rushing back of fear.

This was a safe haven
My Utopia away from strife
But the moment you came in
I found I was thrown from cloud nine
-and back into this dreary life.
