I'm so confused
and it's like I'm torn in two
I want to know you'll always be there
but at the same time I don't want you

so much has changed with us
and we've been through so much together
it's funny that I was the one that broke up with you
because I thought I'd love you forever

but now you might be leaving
and maybe never coming back
I don't want it to end like that
with you maybe going to Iraq

maybe it's a good thing
you going to this war
because then just maybe
I can get you out of my head like I couldn't before

I don't think you understand
that I think we are better as friends now
after all that has happened
I want to forget you but I don't know how

I do know you leaving will help
I feel bad about it in a way
because you may never return
but I just don't want you to stay
