Wilting Rose

by brin macnamara   Dec 29, 2004

How does he know how to love her
This man who has never been married?
What does he know about living face to face with her, body to body,
This amateur of passion?
Does he imagine his love is how love should be?
Having a ready a ready made family,
kissing wounds better, watching her children grow.

Can he possibly understand the Love she needs
When all he's into is running?
Sublimating his love into 26 miles?
What does he really feel as he lies next to her at night watching her breathing
This Romeo in running shoes?
What passion do they share when he turns off the bedside lamp at the end of the day?
Click! Time to sleep. No time to Love.

Small wonder my heart aches and weeps
When I see the Rose that I Love wilting and fading for want of true Love.
What does he care?
What does he know?
That I love her.
