Labels

We hear it everyday,
words everyone can say:
punk, thug, prep and nerd,
think about it;
labels are absurd!

Why should one word describe me,
we should be judged by our personality!
It's said over and over again,
drop the 'labeling' words from your head!

You can be black and listen to rock.
You can be smart and still be a jock.
You can dress like a prep and listen to rap.
You can look like a thug but be a sap.

Why do we get judged
by the way we wear our hair,
or how our skin may be dark or fair?

You've heard it before
but I'm saying it again
labels are meant for soup cans!
