What do we speak of...

by Monique   Jan 3, 2005

As I sit in this cafe,
I find myself wondering;
what are these mindless souls speaking of?

This is what I have concocted:

How's the weather,
is not commonly said.
however,
we enjoy speaking of the effects of Botox on our heads.

We all have strong political views,
but rarely say: how are you?

We always speak of what we'd like to buy,
but never how we always fail to try.

I've grasped this:

Real subjects are never voiced
as we refuse to accept an oppsing choice.

We speak of things without true meaning,
only of things according to how they are seeming.

I'm sipping a latte,
smiling to myself,
knowing I'm an intellectual;
unlike everyone else.

~If you do not like this piece of poetry; oh well.~

    I think it was a good poem. On most cases I agree with you. Althoug I do ask people how they are often. Sometimes I worry about my friends too much. ;o)
    Anyways, good poem and keep writing.
    Take care.
