What A Helpful Hand

by unknown   Jan 3, 2005

See it in your eyes,
What lay’s at the end of this road,
A little bit of help,
A hopeful hand to hold,
A likely end unfolding,
My eyes they see and are closed…

A smile so sweet,
A voice so tender,
I cannot help but fall for you,
Your arms they hold,
And yet they keep,
Me locked inside of you…

You hold the lead,
Me the following fool,
The hand that holds onto you,
You make me see and know and feel,
That all I am to you is a hand.
That you can steal…

You laugh and yet it’s smug,
You vanity eats me here,
You self obsessive behaviour,
You try to infect me,
You fingertips holding my soul;
Squeezing me till I fall…

Happy little lamb,
You are a dance that we all see,
Thinking it’s a good thing to follow,
What a mistake we can make,
What a false amendment,
Do not follow, do not hold his hand,
For he is the sadness and pain,
He is the thing we hold when vain…
