The Feeling of War

by Izzie   Jan 4, 2005

You are walking a path that a lot of Others walked before you.
But its to quiet here.
You can hear the wind whistling Through the trees.
Something is not right.
Then there is a bright light and its Coming right for you.
You jump rolling out of the way. Quickly but not fast enough
You then feel a burning pain on your Leg
You can feel the it burning your flesh On your leg
You fling your backpack off your back As you quickly
But carefully wrap your leg
You can feel the blood seeing through The bandages
You try to stand but u scream with pain
And fall to the ground again
Your eyes water as the pain gets worse
And worse
You then remember the promise that You made
After you hugged your family and said Goodbye
Telling them that you will be back soon
That you will win this for them
And your country
Then they can tell this story for Generations to come
You try once more to stand it hurts so Much
But you stand
As you limp slowly passing your friends Dead or wounded badly
Some of them you stop to help
By putting bandages on them
Some you know you have no choice But to walk past them
Knowing there is no help for them
The next person you walk past gives You a chill down your spine
Its is your general
He has a bullet wound in the middle of His forehead
Your eyes begin to water again Knowing that you are probably the only One left on your side
Then there is a silence again
As you bless you fellow soldiers
But the silence is shattered
When a loud gunshot rings out
Taking the silence away
You feel a sharp pain
This time in your stomach
You have never cried but this time you Can’t help it
The pain hurts too much to bear
You can smell and taste your own Blood
The smell is so strong it makes you Want to vomit
And the taste is so bitter you actually Retch
But struggling on
You hold your arm over your stomach As you try to drag yourself down the Hills
You can only get so far as five feet Before you feel weak
And dizzy at the same time
Even thought it is pitch black you can See little specks in front of you eyes The last thing you see was the sun Coming up over the horizon
As everything goes numb and you lay Your head on the ground
You cant feel anything as you take Your last breath you send a prayer to Heavens
Telling the angels to watch over your Family
Telling them you love them
And not to worry you will in a better Place
