Yesterday

Don't blow out the candle
I don't think I can handle the darkness again
Keep this flame alive and well
don't let me slip
don't let me fall
save me from this opaque hell

Hold on to the precious tears I cry
I may not cry them for you again
Hear now all the words I speak
for tomorrow I may be silent
I want to fall asleep whispering your name
Love me like you did yesterday

This candle seems to be glowing brightly
piercing through this dense obscurity
Faith urges me to keep believing
I wish I could obey but faith often decieves me

But maybe today...
just for today
I'll listen to the words from inside
as long as you stay
and love me
like you did
yesterday

Don't deny it now
It wasn't so long ago
I already know
what you think I don't
Even if you won't let it bleed past your lips
you know it's there
you know the truth
