If Tomorrow Never Came~

If tomorrow never came,
the sun would never rise.
You'd always be with me,
you'd never meet your demise.

If tomorrow never came,
the rain would cease to fall.
Your tiny self would still live on,
so fragile and small.

If tomorrow never came,
you would never die.
I'd never have to come back home,
with tears in my eyes.

If tomorrow never came,
I'd have you here forever.
Our relationship would never end,
by death never would it sever.

If tomorrow never came,
We'd be happy; You and I.
But I also know that if it didn't,
I'd be living a lie.

I've come to realize I love you much,
but I also do know.
That if you truly love someone,
it's right to let them go.

You've held on for quiet some time,
being the fighter you are.
But I can see you're weary now,
having traveled far.

How can I make you understand,
I have your health at heart?
I know that you're very sick,
it's time that you depart.

Before you go, I want you to know,
that I love you more than words.
Who could have known that so much love,
could come from one little bird?.....

I wrote this for my parakeet, Feathers. He's been sick for the past year, and recently he's been getting worse. He had go through surgery once, but the blood clot in his eye is coming back. I don't care if people say 'he's only a bird'. I love him so much and this is such a hard decision to make. Do I put him down or not? I just think he's had enough, and at this point, I don't think it's fair to put an animal that small through anything more......... :-(
