Part two: The Other Side

Part Two: The Other side

Tonya’s driving now,
She keeps looking over at me,
I just start smiling,
I don’t know what she could see.

It’s my seventeenth birthday today,
Were on our way back,
We had so much fun tonight,
We got to participate in the show,
It was so much fun to act.

The light turns green,
Tonya starts to go,
I don’t know why,
But she goes so slow.

I look at her,
‘God I love you,
You’re my best friend,
I just hope you feel the same way I do.’

“Tonight was perfect,
You’re the best friend,
Anyone could ever ask for,
Gezz I don’t want tonight to end.”

Tonya turns and looks at me,
“Same here.”
She turns back to the road,
But there’s something in her eyes,
‘Is that fear?’

I look at the road,
There’s a car in front of us,
I have to protect Tonya,
that’s a must.

It’s going so slow,
I don’t know what to do,
Please tell me what I need to know.

3.…..

I turn my head and see Tonya…..

2.….

I close my eyes…….

1.…

SMASH!

I can hear the sirens,
And smell the blood in the air,
What’s happening,
Isn’t at all fair.

The sounds are becoming faint,
But I can still hear the paramedics talk to each-other,
They say I might not make it,
And I start to drift off further.

I don’t know where I am now,
I can see everything……..
There’s my best friend,
She’s leaning over someone crying,
I walk over to her,
Trying to comfort her,
But then I see,
It’s my body she’s leaning over.

I start to cry,
“I’m not dead! I’m not dead!,
I didn’t drink and drive,
So why am I,
The one that’s not alive?”

I look over at my friend,
I touch her face,
“I’m sorry,
But I promise this wont be our end.”
