A Minute To Convers

by Zackery   Jan 11, 2005

“If only, If only” came a long, heavy sigh
“If only, If only” came my sorrowed, repeated reply
Bent over and torn up
Head shaking side-to-side
Elbows on my knees
Head bowed, wallowing in my mind’s tide
Contemplating my complicated conversation
Re-arranging thoughts, changing directions

Not knowing where it’s all going
The voice speaks up
“You’ve got to keep going”
Out comes my reply
“First I’ve to rise to my feet,
First I’ve to start moving.”
A minute of pause, and a thought
“Then stand, walk, find a path, and follow”
But I could respond only with but a sigh
And so I sat, and I waited, and nothing ever occured
The voice left and I was alone
And no one rescued me. . .
