Ignoring You

by RCM   Jan 11, 2005

Last night you called me on the phone
And I was taken by surprise.
You asked me how I was and so I told you lies.
I said I’m doin’ great and very seldom home,
Yes I’m out with all my mates and a girl or two
And no I haven’t had much time; I’ve got too much to do.
Did I get the message you left a week ago?
And why am I ignoring you, you’d really like to know?
Of course I’m not, I don’t know what you mean.
It’s just that I’ve not had the time, and I should’ve been
At the club an hour ago, for training with the team.
Yes I’ll call you very soon, maybe tomorrow night!
We’ll make a date to see a show and maybe grab a bite.
Well you know I’ve got to go, speak with you real soon.
No I won’t forget, see you, bye for now.
Then I hang the phone up, and sit and wonder how.
How I let you rule my life, or why I’m hanging on.
We used to be a couple, but then it all went wrong
So I chose to give you up and make it on my own
But since I did, you want me more, it doesn’t make much sense.
I sit here missing you, acting like a fool
Wanting, but ignoring, we play a game so cruel
Neither being honest, not knowing what to do.
One day soon I’ll tell you so, I’ll make it very clear
But til then I guess, I’ll keep ignoring you.
