Love is..

by Samantha (Sam)   Jan 11, 2005

As a little girl,
I would often think & wonder,
About this thing called love,
That my parents expressed with each other.
Was love about the kissing?
Was love about the hugs?
Was love about the cute names used,
Like hunny or sugar bug?
Boy, the kissing was nasty,
& The cute names were too much,
Love had to be more than that,
Cause those weren’t enough
Then on one sad day,
My mommy said she’d go,
To the store to buy some groceries,
But little did she know,
That she’d be in an accident,
Not long after she left,
That would almost take her life,
In just a split second.
That night at the hospital,
I saw my daddy cry,
I saw the love he felt for mommy,
As I looked in his sad eyes.
That’s when I realized,
What love truly was,
That it wasn’t just the kissing, the cute names, or
the hugs.
Love is never giving up,
It’s taking that big leap,
Into a flame that never dies,
& A passion that never sleeps.
