Even Though I Love You, You Can't Stay

by ♥-Sharon Ardern-♥   Jan 12, 2005

Unfold me
Take away the creases
Then hold me

Unravel my pain
Burn my anger to dust
Then love me again

Send away my fear
Banish all my anxieties
Then pull me near

Cast out the demon in me
Turn back and erase the abuse
Then we can be happy

Folded and creased, pained and angry
Fearful and anxious, caught and abused
I know that’s not how you will love me

And you know my past is who I am
So though you say you want to love me;
We both know you never can

So I’ll curl up now in my shell to hide
I’ve opened the door, so you may go
I won’t watch you leave: I’m already broken inside.
