What are we living for?

by melody eyes   Jan 14, 2005

It came to me one morning
When I walked outside my door
What was this world all about?
What were we living for?

Are we for our parents?
That are always on our case?
For mine they make me cry
And complain about my face

Are we for our friends?
Who you always get to smile?
Who pledge they'll care forever
But only last a while

Are we for our love?
The one somewhere out there?
The one who will always hold you?
The one who's supposed to care?

What are we living for?
Why were we even born?
I guess I'll never really find out
Until maybe another dawn

Also a bit of this was made by Ironic Allure :) She's wicked and you should read her poems!

Again, great poem. Very though provoking too.
However, there is a little suggestion I have to make because It's bugging me, hehe.
The stanza talking about your friends kind of, is a bit wishy washy towards the end, so as a slight change try
    'Are we for our friends?
Who you always get to smile?
    Who pledge they'll care forever,
    But only last a while.'
..You don't have to use it. But let me know what you decide.
Anyway, as always a great poem.
    Well done, Take care.
