Waiting...

by brin macnamara   Jan 16, 2005

Every day I wait for you to turn and smile at me.
The smiles of all the others fall to the floor and melt.
Meaningless.
Like last weeks snow.
All I want is a smile from you.

Every day I want you to reach out your
hand and touch mine.
I've waited all afternoon sometimes,
just sitting there making small talk.
Waiting.
But the touch never comes.
Looking at your fingers and silently pleading for you to reach out...

Your heart seems as numb as hair,
Mute as a cat,
Limp as last weeks lettuce.
You're as enigmatic as the heads on Easter Island.
Staring dispssionately out to sea
Looking, but not feeling.

Every day I sit.
Sit and languish in that place...
Waiting and wanting.....You
