Our Senses Remind Us

by John123   Jan 17, 2005

Senses remind us how numb we have become
Colors remind us how gray, plain, and boring our lives are
Taste reminds us what a bitter person we have changed into
Sounds remind us of the yelling that can only be eluded by death
Happiness reminds us of the sorrow that will follow
Sadness reminds us of the happy times that will never again be
Warmth reminds us of the cold to come
Coldness reminds us how alone we really are and will forever be
Memories remind us of broken lives and loves
Anger reminds us that we hate ourselves more than anything else, even life itself
Pain reminds us that we are still alive, though we wish we weren't

Physical pain numbs emotional pain and emotional; the physical
I choose to numb the emotional

Ignorance is bliss, so I drink to forget

We are only truly free in death and so I want to die

Finally, how can my life end if it never began?
