New Friend

by Frankie Murillo   Jan 18, 2005

January 15, 2005
was when I first laid eyes on you
you sat a desk away from me
I look at you sometimes
and you look at me too
we smile at each other
you’re tall, pretty, and perfect
you’re in band and I’m in sports
the bell rang for us to exchange classes
and for the 1st time I wish the class could be longer
I went up to you that day
not really knowing what to say
I finally said hi and introduced myself
it turns out you were walking in the same direction as me
so I offered to walk you to class
I carried your books on the way
I asked for your phone number
cause I wanted to get to know you better
I remember your exact words
You told me that,
you would give me your number the next time I saw you
You said that if I wanted your number
I would find a way to find you
I told you bye and went to class
It must have been my lucky day
cause somebody called in a bomb threat
and we had to leave the building
I went up to you and
asked if you wanted to walk around
you said yes
when we went back inside
I walked you to class again
and I reminded you what you said
you got your pink gel pen
and wrote your number on my hand
I went to class happier than ever
I don’t think we’ll ever hook up
I think we can be really good friends
we always have something to talk about
I like you a lot as a friend
cause you see past my looks
you like me for who I am
and not for what I am
I’m so happy that I met you
I don’t know about you
But I’m glad you became my new friend.
