Uncle Roy

by Missy_May   Jan 20, 2005

Dear uncle Roy,
we miss you down here
why did you hafta leave?
Even though your in a special place,
I still want you back here,

Even though your not really my uncle
such words have never crossed my mind
you were such a great guy,
I could talk to you about anything
and you always understood,

You called me up one night
told me to come over
and to bring my friends too
half of us were allowed to go
the other half snuck out

we started out conversation
like we always have,
stood in a circle and held hands
bowed out heads and said a prayer
your grip was tighter than usual tonight...

As we sat back down
i could see the sadness in your eyes
First thing you said
was that you'd be going away soon
you said you'd be living
with the Magical man up-above

your mother was dieing
she needed a hear transplant
and you were going to be her donor
you were the only man for the job

tears dripped down our faces
as we got up for a group hug,
I wanted to scream
and push them all away
keep you for myself

You must have read my mind
cause you told the others to go sit down
I stayed hugging you
not even the strongest person
could have broken my grip

You placed you hand on my heart
and said "I'll always be here"
"Right here in your heart"
I whispered I'd never for you,
no way in hell I'd forget you

I whispered in your ear,
"I'll talk to you in my prayers
I'll dream of you in my sleep,
I'll think of you everyday,
I love you uncle Roy, and I'll never forget you."

We all said goodnight,
after one last prayer
You told us all you'd be our guardian angel
and that your there whenever we call
I just said i loved you
and walked home crying
