Distant Love

by Lyndsay   Jan 21, 2005

I lie awake at night and think of you
Where you have been, what you have been doing
What you look like asleep
Distant love

I wish you were there to ease trouble's heavy load
To wrap your arms around me and hold me close
And whisper comforting words into my ear
Offering heartfelt advice when I needed it the most
Distant love

Yet you shall not think of me when I am not there
How can love so everlasting be so unfair?
If you knew how much I dreamt of you
You'd know how much I care
Distant love

Can you tell the way I'm feeling?
Anyone who ever wanted you
Would try to tell you what I feel inside
The only feeling I ever wanted
Was the feeling that I was the one you loved
The only one you ever thought about
But here I am alone
Distant love

What would you do if the only person you ever loved
The only one you cared about and could confide in
Was out of reach?
So near, yet so far
Because that is what you are to me
And will remain so forever

I shall try, I shall try my very hardest to get over you
But the truth is you will always be in my thoughts
Always
Distant love

*I would like to decicated this poem to Luke who doesn't yet know my true feelings for him. One day maybe.*

Utterly brilliant! Good rythym, nice use of words, and lastly a great message. I feel exactly the same way right now. This poem is an excellent one.
