I Remember

Take a closer look at me
And you'll see I'm torn apart
One side is pure and whole
The other has a shattered heart

What caused me to be like this
What caused my rip in two
Then, dad, you come and hug me
Finally, I scream that it was you

Dad, you caused all this
You made me feel this pain
You put the razor in my hand
You caused me to cut every vein

I remember when you raped me
And how many tears did descend
How much you hurt me then and now
And how hard it is now to mend

I remember when you left us
And had us live in the shed
How much we had to struggle
And how much we cried in bed

I remember on my birthday
Not a gift or I love you
Nothing did I get from my dad
And that was my final clue

The clue that Im not wanted
That finally made me see
You didnt want and never wanted
To be your daughters daddy

I realize this all now
Im sorry I didnt before
I was stupid and young
And I wanted you here more

    When a poem is about such a desolate and real personal experience, then any comment would seem somewhat out of place.. I'm deeply sorry and I believe that nobody deserves that kind of treatement.. Yet again - what I wrote probably won't make much sense to you, and even if it does - it won't make you feel better..
