Nothing More, Nothing Less

by Sarah   Jan 23, 2005

§ I Am Nothing Without You§

I stand, close my eyes, pull my hands out
Waiting to see who will take me home
A storm blows, pouring rain over my soul
But I remain holding the hands that I sought

I sought them once to save my heart
To be taken from an icy land to a new start

I look into these eyes as I stand
In the middle of a cold marbled floor
Barefoot, freezing from the wind of the winter
But the heat from your heart warms the land

The land, my once icy heaven
Melted away by the fire you burn

You hug me now, fighting the cold
I know you have found me in the white snow
If a storm will come, let the wind blow
For I have nothing to fear, my heart is sold

Sold to the one that caught me before I fell
From my icy heaven into a burning hell

You carry me to a land so far from were I once was
Held in your arms
Safe from all harm
I want you, nothing more, nothing less

Great play of fire and ice imagery permeating the poem... nicely Petrarcan. Also enjoyed the two-line refrains. Another great poem.
