Journey to Dragons Hollow: P15

by Lost but Smiling   Jan 23, 2005

Carson sat patiently in the doctors office. He didn't want to think about what would happen. He looked down at his arms, covered with his hoodie sleeve. He pulled it up to his elbow and looked at the bruises that littered his arms. He was almost sure that this time it was back. the cancer that had almost killed him was back. If Ana's bone marrow was finally being rejected...there was not much else the doctors could do for him. he knew that they could put him back on Chemotherapy, they could try radiation. But, if the marrow his sister gave him so long ago was being rejected, there was not much else that could be done. he was there for three hours when finally his oncologist came in and said, "Carson, why don't you call your foster family and Ana. we need to discuss somethings." that sentence alone was enough to confirm the boys worst fears. He slowly got up and dialed Landon and Seb. Sebastien answered the phone, "Hello?" he asked.
"Seb-it's Carson..." the boy had to try to keep his voice from shaking.
"Hey Carson-what's wrong?"
"Um, can you get Landon to come down to the hospital. Is Ana at home?"
There was silence, "Yeah we'll come down, Ana is at Willie's house. do you want me to call her cell phone?"
Carson sighed shakily, trying to sound normal, "Yes. It's really important."
Landon spoke softly, "We'll be there in no more than 15 minutes. OK bud."
That struck a slight nerve in the boy. Buddy/bud was Ana's name for him. true they were now family, and he loved his foster fathers, but how could he tell them that, that was her name. Not anyone else's.
"Thank you Landon" he said weakly.
