Questions of Will

What makes a hero of a guy?
That's just the same as you and I?
Where does he find in his heart
To do more than just his part?

What makes a man cower behind
With hope that no one will ever find?
What causes him to fear?
Is it something we can neither see nor hear?

What gives a man the strength to carry on
When all hope thought to be gone?
What is he searching for?
Is it something really worth fighting for?

What causes a man to cry?
What could make him weak and want to die?
What could take all hope away
And make him wish for the end, today?

What makes a man wise?
Is this decided in someone else's eyes?
What gives him the wisdom to lead
Where all else fail to succeed?

What makes a man hate
As if enemies were made by fate?
Why do they all try to find
A way to attack him from behind?

How does a man know how to choose
When to fight and when to lose?
How does he know which battles to fight
And when it's best to stay from sight?

But most of all I don't understand
What makes a boy into a man?
