The Journey To The Rainbow

Don't be fooled by the title, this isn't a story, it is a poem.

For my Lisa

I feel like I should take you, and fly you far away,
From all the blackness surrounding you, now, day after day.

I want to take your tears, both crimson and blue,
I want to bring back your true smile, so it is shining right through.

That beautiful glisten, of your teeth pure and white,
Bring back your happy dreams, no more bad ones at night.

When you feel alone, with nowhere you can turn,
Please try and find me in your heart, let bad thoughts rot and burn.

Burn into the ashes, ashes to the dust,
Dust flies to the moonlight, no more haunting hurt, just.

Just your soul and heart, the things inside your chest,
The things that when you cry, will sort you out the best.

Let me see your blue eyes, no pain and hurt, not sad,
You are so beautiful, look inside yourself, see the good, not bad.

Look into that mirror; see the reflection staring back,
See the golden, wonderful, not the dismal black.

You deserve a tray of diamonds, reflecting light from those blue eyes,
You deserve fluffy clouds and rainbows, no more black, dismal Grey skies.

Stand onto my shoulders, and catch that rainbow fast,
Before it keeps on going, and flies straight on past.

I’ll stay down here for you; I’ll give you the boost you need,
If it will help you babe, I’ll be your trusty steed!

I’ll get you on that rainbow, whatever way I can,
I’ll hold onto the ladder, get you back up where you began.

I’m sure you can make it; I've always got your back,
I’ll be there behind you, Keep going on your track.

If I had a plane I’d fly you, right up to the moon,
And drop you on the rainbow, Hopefully I’ll get there soon.

But come on lets get going, we got lots of things to try,
To get you up there, babe; to get you in the sky.

Put your hand onto that rainbow, Pull with all your might,
I’ll be right under, pushing you, don’t rush; I’ll wait all night.

And when we’re on that rainbow, High up in the sky,
We’ll think of all that we went through, and wonder, why, just why.
