Crazy

Silly things happen when you’re running the race
people get crazy and all up in your face
they yell and they scream and they taunt and they pull
they laugh and they cry like no one else ever will
they’ll shove you and burn you and mold you like clay
your just a toy in a box with which they like to play
and the race gets all twisted and the track gets all lost
and that’s just how life goes when you don’t care for the costs
and friends get forgotten and enemies are made
and you don’t know whose who at the end of the day
because those that you love seem to be hiding somewhere
they don’t answer your cries 'cuz maybe they just don’t care
and your voice is echoing in this great empty mind
with the callings from all those you just up and left behind
but the show must go on and the curtains will rise
so ignore your conscience and to hell with your pride
cut all the strings that are holding you tall
but keep one tied just so that you don’t fall
don’t we all just want someone to make it easier and pain free
but when they come we get hate filled, and bitter and angry
and we tell them to take all their promises and lies
and to get out - this is what you get for making us cry
so quit playing safe, because safe never wins
safe loses the race before it even begins
because rules they change at the drop of a hat
and life knows no rules, remember that
don’t pull any punches and don’t shed any tears
for the lost and forgotten and wasted years
‘cause life’s dropping her pennies into your wishing well
one for every day closer she’s sending you to hell
we’re crazy to think that we can win and be done
but the craziest thing is that we're living this for fun.
