Waiting for..

by Cheyanne   Feb 12, 2005

Waiting for the sun
to kiss the sea,

a shadow comes
upon the brick wall near me.

"Who are you,
what are you going to do now?
there is still light
why are you here?" said mystery shadows

The sun setting,
slow dancing light

upon the waters
revealing a reflection unknown

like a thousand forevers
in a single moment.

"What has become of you,
you have changed so much-
it is like an opposite
but is it for the better?"

I take a step forward
"Do I know you?-
You know me but
I no longer know you it seems."

"You should have taken a chance
but I see you wait & for nothing at all-
what has become of you?"
said the deep shadow to my face.

I rush toward the figure
like the waves up the shore line

but I only saw me
it WAS me.

I turn around and watch
opportunity, my life float off and drift away

further into the sunset passing
along to an empty darkness

that soon consumed me.

*this is about missing out on opportunity of any kind or something special in your life as symbolized as the boat that was drifting away. The shadow figure is myself in the past. So it's like I'm talking to my previous self and I'm ignoring it which causes my demise.
