Battle

by Unknown2Thyself   Feb 13, 2005

The clash of battle was heard no more,
and the screams and moans of the wounded died one by one.
The night was quiet and time seem suspended.
The autumn moon shone bright, blood hued and weary, and the distant howl of a hunting wolf shivered down the night, locking the eerie silence tighter upon the land.

Shreds of fog drifted through the marsh over the split and hewn bodies of the dead.
The low wall of earth, weakly butteressed by stones.
Through the bodies the women look hoping to find there loved ones.
The children looking for their parents who fought to protect them.

The suns light coming over the horizon.
showing the sea of bodies which have been slay an all for the cost of land.
Destroying what the village had worked so hard for.
Now all is lane in ruin,
covered in the blood of the victors and the defeated.
