Alas, my love, we were not meant to be,
Forbidden is the love within my heart.
I wish you would come back to me,
Together we would make a brand new start.
Your smile is like the sun, my guiding light,
Your laughter a song my heart yearns to hear,
Your arms are strong, keeping me safe at night,
While you whisper sweet nothings in my ear.
But even as you hold me warm and tight,
I cannot help but lay awake and fear,
That when my faced is touched by morning light,
You will no longer hold me close and dear.
But forever my love for you will last,
Even if my heart must dwell in the past.
