Last night i held you in my arms
last night i kissed your lips
last night i felt your soft brown hair
slip through my fingertips
last night, with these same hands
i gently touched your face
last night, alone at last,
our bodies did embrace
last night i gazed into your eyes
as you tenderly looked to mine
and under the moon, last night,
our love, like the stars, did shine
last night you smiled sweetly
as i whispered into your ear
that my love for you would never die
whether you be far or near
but now, as the sun comes up
i see last night wasn't all it seemed
alone, all alone, i again realize
that last night was only in my dreams
