Lights Out

by x..bittersweet..x   Feb 21, 2005

No longer will my jokes bring a smile to your face,
No longer will my songs make you smile.
No longer will I feel your warm embrace,
As your body becomes more fragile.
As your chest's movements slowly begin to die down, your head seeps into the pillow.
I kiss your face just one last time and hold your hand so brittle.
And watch as your breaths get shorter,
For soon no more you will take.
As your life begins to cross the border,
And there will lie your fate.
The feeling of warmness that I've felt for so long has totally disappeared,
No longer will I have you there to chase away my fears.
Who will guide me without judgement or help me through the day?
Who will keep my spirits up when things seem to slip away?
The radiance that surrounds you no longer reveals its light,
The wretched sickness that had bound you,
is no longer in sight.
So now I'll wait as the first tear drop falls onto our enclosed hands,
And wonder how I'll ever be able to understand.
But life will still go on even though unbareingly.
As I've shortly come to realize that it is not you that has died,
it's me.
