A Solemn Promise

*told through the eyes of a woman saying good bye to her husband who’s been drafted to war, had to follow a certain form.. well there was a few and i chose the hardest because poetries awesome anyway! here it is... oh and labove is a last name*

-I woke up to find my husband suiting up,
-The day had come, the day he’d have to go to war,
-I can’t believe they’re taking him from me and the kids,
-For who knows long, we may see him nevermore,

-I got out of bed and walked over to him,
-Hugged him from behind, whispering words of my delicate love,
-Weeping into his shoulder I begged him not to go,
-He replied that he had to or the king would send him to the far above,

-I left the room to wake up the kids to say good bye,
-Hurried them from there room, before he left us on our own,
-Rushed them to the door as he was walking out,
-He saw the looks on there faces and let out a steady groan,

-Each took a turn hugging him and saying good bye,
-I looked into his eyes and told him how I proud I was to be a labove
-With that he got on his horse and rode off,
-As I whispered behind him into the light breeze with a tear rolling down my cheek, good bye my love,
