Abyss

by wayne t   Feb 26, 2005

A cold and clammy hand is leading me down a misty path,
Deeper into damp woods smelling of death and love lost,
I see far away fading light my castle with fear I did leave,

Not on my own, but a ghostly spirit to which I don't see,
Floating on emotions, I see my soul, heart, my life, love,
Tossed about like tiny orbs of light, flickering among trees,

Entering into a clearing eerily lite by ladies dressed in white,
Pointing to the center, an abyss beckons me closer to see,
Covered in moss, smelling of dead roses, surely death for me,

Peering downward my reflection is motionless, waters do part,
Visions of passion from loves in my past, impaled in my chest,
Screaming back at the image, why dredge up this horrid past,

Looking upward to images floating round me in a Smokey haze,
Raising hands for someone to vanish this dream from my gaze,
Cannot live without emotions of love, is the abyss my lowly grave,

Leaning over to enter the healing dark waters, body so depraved,
Ascending into soothing waters, breath leaving slowly, I shall rest,
Crossing arms over my chest, a hand grabbing mine and upward,

Out of the abyss, watery grave now behind, what in hell is this,
Magically breath is flowing in my lifeless body renewing my soul,
Eyes coming to focus, mind becoming clear, a voice I do hear,

Now you have seen horrors of past loves, alas you are redeemed,
For you know that love's passion lives within your heart and soul,
Never to die no matter how cruel, a living part that never grows old,

Seeing clear who is speaking to me, lips touching softly to mine,
A woman dressed in white, long flowing hair, eyes dispelling despair,
Raising me to stand, letting go my hands in hers, disappears in thin air,

Twas the goddess of love, or, my dreams needing someone as she,
Rebirth complete, shall search till fate finds the woman who loves me.

I loved this. I absolutly admire how you came up with the main concept of the dream and the incredible symbols you wrote with such darkness and tragedy tied into beauty to create an amazing impact on the reader. I loved the altering point, and how you were able to set up this horrific atmosphere then transfer it to a hopeful conetent and have the past images reveal "love lost" that was brilliant.
    I especially admire the lines,
"Tossed about like tiny orbs of light, flickering among trees,
Entering into a clearing eerily lite by ladies dressed in white,
Pointing to the center, an abyss beckons me closer to see,

This piece was incredibly impactful, absolutly beautiful, excellent job
