Ribbon (little girl)

A little baby girl
With a ribbon in her hair
looked in the wrong places
For love that wasn't there

She tried hard to be good
But it didn't get her far
Mom & dad used to love her
She used to be their star

A 5 year old little girl
With a ribbon in her hair
pretended nothing phased her
that she really didn't care

But deep inside her heart
she knew there was a void
She was missing love she needed
and her whole world was destroyed

A 10 year old little girl
with a ribbon in her hair
Tried to hold back tears
cos her life just wasn't fair

She missed the hugs anf kisses
that were now just memories
she'd sit down every night and pray
getting down on both her knees

A 14 year old girl
with a ribbon in her hair
knew her life was over
and she was going nowhere

So she untied the ribbon
and held it in her hand
a tear formed in her eye
cause no one could understand

She tied the ribbon to a nail
high up on the wall
she straightened up her posture
and let her hair freely fall

She tied the ribbon around her neck
and hung it on the nail
and at that very moment
her senses began to fail

The next day at the funeral
everyone was crying
her parents failed to notice
that inside that girl was dying

Her casket was lowered into the ground
her mom was a nervous wreck
a 14 year old girl
with a ribbon around her neck
