Gone...

by brin macnamara   Mar 5, 2005

Left alone I grow from experience.
In solitude I gaze at the empty chair,
Your phone now silent, pen at rest,
coffee cup arid.
All that grows is emptiness.
The vastness of space that silence brings.

You\'ve gone and thats all you know
You don\'t know I miss you
nor that I touch your chair each time I pass,
that I stare at your writing left scribbled on the pad.

When no one sees I touch your coffee cup.
Running my finger tip gently along where your lips may have touched.
Kiss the end of the pen that you have chewed.

In my hallucinating heart I see you.
Smell your perfume, hear your laughter.
In this separated experience part of me dies quietly each day.
