September 11

by jem   Mar 10, 2005

The sun had slowly risen
It was another normal day
Until the lives of many people
Were violently ripped away
The man in the business suit
Taking calls on the 18th floor
He left his little children asking
"Why isn't Daddy home anymore?"
The little girl sitting on the plane
With terror in her eyes
She had so much ahead of her
She paid for someone elses lies
The panic-stricken man sits by the phone
Waiting for his fiancee to call
He's been waiting three years for her to return
He can't accept she's not coming at all
America was under attack
Lots of lives changed at 8:47
That was the time the first plane hit
So much innocence lost on September 11
Why did it happen? No answers are shared
Just tears for the lives that are gone
Tears for the people that were stolen from us
May their memories still live on.
